Wright-Phillips Claims Man City Signing Is Already Showing Signs He Could Be The Best In The Premier League

Former Man City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has been left stunned by Ayyoub Bouaddi’s composure in possession.

Speaking to Betway, Wright-Phillips said that the Moroccan international is already the best young midfielder in the Premier League in terms of his use of the ball:

“The flashes I’ve seen of him, I don’t think I’ve seen somebody as calm as him on the ball in that position in the Premier League at the age 18.”

“He just knows where to put his body. He’s a big person as well, and he plays those passes that cut lines as well. I’ve seen him drive with the ball, so he’s got a lot of aspects to him.”

Man City have not signed just any teenager

Bouaddi already had two full seasons of senior football under his belt before he played for Morocco at the World Cup, despite still only being 18 years of age.

As Wright-Phillips rightly points out, the midfielder is playing well beyond his years, and that is why the Cityzens were willing to spend £86m to bring him in from Lille during the summer transfer window.

Bouaddi may have to stay patient for opportunities

The teenager was an unused substitute against Sunderland last weekend, and he has only been given 22 minutes of league action in total by head coach Enzo Maresca so far this season.

Bouaddi clearly has a lot of potential, and he has looked very impressive in his outings against Porto in the Champions League and the 5-0 win over Norwich City in the Carabao Cup (where he contributed an assist).

However, there is fierce competition for places in midfield, especially after Enzo Fernandez’s arrival from Chelsea, so he will need to bide his time. Wright-Phillips is among many who believe the club have a special player on their hands.
