‘Agreement Is Not Far Away’ – Report Claims Goal Machine Is Close To Signing On The Dotted Line For City

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is in talks about signing a new contract, according to Marca.

The Spanish publication claims that the Premier League champions have had “several meetings” with the Norwegian’s agent Rafaela Pimenta and an “agreement is not far away” to extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland has just under three years left to run on his current deal, having joined from Borussia Dortmund for €60m (£51.3m) in the summer of 2022.

However, the forward has been in phenomenal form since his arrival in Manchester, and the club are keen to award him for his efforts.

A release clause will be included in Haaland’s new contract

Marca report that the 24-year-old is keen to keep control of his own future so a buyout clause of some kind is expected to be kept in the agreement currently being hashed out.

While they don’t go into specifics about how much the release fee will actually be, other sources have speculated that the figure could be around €120m (£101m).

It is a substantial sum but it may not put Haaland out of reach of the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid if they do come calling in the future.

The striker has started the season in fine form for City

After scoring a hat-trick against West Ham in his last appearance for the Cityzens, Haaland already has 7 goals from his first three league appearances this campaign.

The Norwegian international will be hoping to get on the scoresheet once again when Pep Guardiola’s side take on Brentford at home this weekend.

Haaland will, though, be coming up against stronger defences over the coming weeks, with City playing Inter Milan in their first Champions League fixture next week before taking on Arsenal the following Sunday.
