Alan Shearer Makes Prediction As To Who Will “Score More Goals” Out Of Haaland And £125M Liverpool Signing

The Premier League’s all-time top scorer Alan Shearer has backed Erling Haaland to bag more goals than Liverpool’s British record signing Alexander Isak over the next few years.

While Shearer is a keen admirer of Isak, stating he is superior to the Man City striker in several areas, he thinks Haaland‘s finishing ability is second to none:

“I think they are very different, I wouldn’t argue that Erling Haaland isn’t the best goalscorer in the world, but Isak is an incredible footballer that can do things Haaland can’t do with a football. He gives you different options.”

“Haaland is without a doubt more of a killer, he will score more goals than Isak. But running with the ball, touch and technique, than Isak is better than Haaland. They are both excellent players, but both very different.”

Isak has had a rocky start at Liverpool

The Swedish international secured his £125m switch to Anfield on Deadline Day at the start of last month, but he was lacking match fitness, having effectively gone on strike for the best part of six weeks.

Isak did get his first goal for the Reds against Southampton in the Carabao Cup but he has yet to get off the mark in the Premier League.

Haaland is on course for a record-breaking season at City

While Isak has only found the back of the net once, the Norwegian has now scored 11 times in just 8 appearances, having got himself a brace during the 2-2 draw against Monaco on Wednesday evening.

If Haaland continues in that vein for the rest of the campaign, he could well surpass the 52 goals he recorded during his first year with the Cityzens.

The forward was not keen to talk about individual records after dropping points versus Monaco. He expressed his frustration in an X-rated interview following the game.
