“I Have That Fear” – Gary Neville Believes City May Get Helping Hand In Title Race

Ex-Manchester United defender Gary Neville says his former club could do City a favour and take points off Arsenal this weekend.

If the Gunners don’t pick up a win at Old Trafford, Neville says it will allow Pep Guardiola’s side to win the title before the final day by beating Tottenham:

“I have that fear the title race could be over a week on Tuesday. I want the title race to go to the final day; my fear is it won’t if City win on Saturday against Fulham and United take points off Arsenal on the Sunday.”

“Arsenal have already proven they are a different side than last season, but it just feels like an inevitability City will be perfect until the end.”

What’s the state of play in the title race?

The Cityzens are currently a point behind Arsenal at the the top of the table, but they do have a game in hand over their rivals.

As Neville mentions, Guardiola’s men can move up into first place if they do beat Fulham, with the Gunners facing Manchester United a day later.

If Arsenal can’t get three points, it would give City the chance to win the title at Spurs, with a victory giving them an unassailable lead.

City will be taking one game at a time

While Neville can afford to look a bit further ahead, Guardiola and his players will be completely focused on their next fixture at Craven Cottage.

It is important to remind people that Fulham did beat Arsenal at home earlier this year so this won’t be a walk in the park for the reigning champions. However, a win in that fixture would put extraordinary pressure on their title rivals heading into the match against United.

There could still be plenty of twists and turns before the final day but Neville clearly feels that fortune will favour the Cityzens.
