Gary Neville Says City Still Have One “Standout Game” To Play That Could Blow Title Race Wide Open

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville claims that Manchester City still have one big hurdle to overcome in order to win the Premier League title.

Pep Guardiola‘s side will play Tottenham away from home on the penultimate day of the season and Neville believes that there is a possibility the reigning champions could drop points in that fixture:

“There’s a standout game there, and it’s Manchester City going to Tottenham in the last week. Arsenal and Liverpool have got to be thinking, get to that game, get to that game where they are in front, get to that game. Put the pressure on City to have to win the last two games, one of them being Tottenham away.”

“And that’s the job of Liverpool and Arsenal. They gave up the sort of if you like being in control last weekend. They’ve got to sort of try to get to that game now, in their minds. Obviously, there are games to go before that, but that’s I think the pressure they have got to try to apply.”

City don’t have a good record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Since Spurs moved into their new ground back in 2019, the Cityzens have not won their in a league game. They have, though, triumphed in Carabao Cup and FA Cup fixtures at the stadium over the past few seasons.

Neville is right to point to the fixture as one of the main obstacles remaining in City’s quest for a sixth Premier League title in seven seasons. It won’t be a straightforward match to negotiate.

Who do City have left to face in the Premier League this season?

Guardiola’s men take on Brighton at the Amex on Thursday before travelling to Nottingham Forest this weekend.

They then play Wolves at home and Fulham away before that Tottenham game. The final fixture is against West Ham at the Etihad.
