Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal says he believes Manchester City midfielder Rodri should win the Ballon d’Or.
When I asked by Jijantes FC (quotes via City Xtra Portugues) about his thoughts on who deserves to win the accolade, Yamal replied:
“I would like Rodri to win.”

City have been linked with a move for Yamal
The Daily Mail (via Football 365) report that City’s new Director of Football Hugo Viana could help the Premier League champions secure some high-profile transfers in the summer transfer window.
He has a close relationship with superagent Jorge Mendes and one of his biggest clients is Yamal. However, it would be a shock if the teenager left Barca in the near future.
Who is the favourite to win the Ballon d’Or?
Despite many (including Yamal) feeling that Rodri‘s performances over the past 12 months warrant recognition, Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr is the heavy favourite for this year’s award. Some bookmakers even have the Brazilian as short as 20/1 odds on to win.
The ceremony to announce the winner will take place tonight at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.
