Michael Owen Makes Prediction That Will Delight City Fans Ahead Of FA Cup Final

Manchester City are likely to wipe the floor with Manchester United when they face their rivals in the FA Cup final later this month, according to Michael Owen.

The former England international says the Red Devils are in no position to beat anyone at the moment after a very poor performance against Crystal Palace on Monday evening:

“They’re going to get absolutely hammered by Manchester City. They’re going to get annihilated. In fact, Arsenal will smash them to bits at Old Trafford. Newcastle will probably beat them and I wouldn’t even fancy them going to Brighton either.”

“They might not get anything out of the rest of the season if they’re playing like that.”

City cannot afford to be complacent

Pep Guardiola‘s side will clearly be red-hot favourites when they face United at Wembley on May 25th. The contrasting form of the two teams means that plenty of other pundits, in addition to Owen, will expect the Cityzens to thrash their opponents.

Of course, cup finals are never as straightforward as that, especially when you are playing against rivals. It is a one-off game where anything could happen.

City should still expect to win but they need to be professional and do their jobs. Any complacency is likely to be punished.

What are City’s odds to win the FA Cup?

Guardiola’s team is being heavily backed by punters at the bookmakers, with Betfred pricing them at 1/4 odds-on to secure a victory against United.

The Red Devils, meanwhile, are 4/1 at Bet365 and those odds are likely to lengthen further if Erik ten Hag’s side cannot improve on recent displays.

As Owen says, they don’t have a particularly easy run of games. Ironically, City will be hoping that they can take some points off Arsenal this Sunday but it doesn’t seem likely based on what we have seen over the past couple of weeks.
