Guardiola’s Representatives Reveal Whether City Boss Could Sensationally Leave The Etihad This Summer

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is not considering a surprise return to Bayern Munich, according to his agents.

Reports in the German media have suggested that the 53-year-old could be lined up to replace Thomas Tuchel in the dugout at the end of the season. However, speaking to Sky Germany (quotes via TEAMtalk), Guardiola’s representatives said:

“Pep has Bayern in his heart, but he doesn’t want to leave Manchester City this summer. He’s very happy and has a contract until 2025. A return to Bayern is not an option.”

The statement is not a surprise but it does put to bed any rumours that Guardiola will leave the Etihad before the end of his current deal.

Why have Bayern been linked with Guardiola?

Despite being one of Europe’s most high-profile clubs, the Bundesliga side have been turned down by several managers since they began the search for Tuchel’s successor.

Xabi Alonso decided to remain at Bayer Leverkusen, while both Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick committed their futures to Germany and Austria respectively.

Will Guardiola stay at City beyond 2025?

At the moment, there has been no indication about what the current manager’s future plans are. He usually takes his decisions pretty late on.

Last time Guardiola signed an extension, there was only six months remaining on his contract and he may decide to do a similar thing this time around.

The City head coach has shown no signs of burnout, unlike Jurgen Klopp who confirmed that he would be leaving Liverpool back in November.

Of course, things can change, but Guardiola seems perfectly happy to continue his work with the Cityzens. If he does put pen to paper on a new deal soon, it will be music to the ears of supporters, with the club having enjoyed unprecedented success during his eight years in charge.
