Juventus’s decision on selling Manchester City target Andrea Cambiaso may hinge on whether the Serie A side sign Nuno Tavares as his replacement, according to reports.
The Sun claim that the Arsenal flop is being targeted by Juve, who could be available for around €40m (£34m).
Tavares is technically still on loan from the Gunners at Lazio but the Italian club will sign him on a permanent basis at the start of July.
They are hoping to make a quick profit by offloading the Portuguese defender to Juventus, although 40% of the proceeds will go to Arsenal due to a sell-on clause.
Cambiaso was wanted in January
Pep Guardiola’s side were reportedly looking to snap up the Italian international during the last transfer window at the start of this year. There was said to be an agreement on personal terms but Juve’s asking price was too steep.
The Bianconeri were demanding around €80m (£68m) but they had not lined up Cambiaso’s potential successor at the time.
That valuation may be lowered this summer, and that could potentially facilitate his transfer to the Etihad Stadium.
Are any other fullbacks being considered by City?
In addition to Cambiaso, the Cityzens are believed to be keen admirers of Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, while Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie is also on their list of targets.
Although there is interest in the pair, they haven’t made any concerted effort to sign either player yet, with the focus still seemingly on getting a deal over the line for Cambiaso.
The 25-year-old is open to making the switch to England. He would never force a move away from his current team but, if an agreement is reached on the transfer fee, the feeling is he would accept the move to City.
