Man City are keen to have the future of their captain, Bernardo Silva, resolved before the end of the season, according to reports.
The midfielder, who has been capped 107 times by Portugal, is currently set to leave the Etihad on a free transfer this summer.
However, TEAMtalk claim that the Cityzens have “already moved” to tie down Silva for at least another twelve months.
The club are keen to keep hold of the 31-year-old but Director of Football Hugo Viana is looking for a “resolution” to the situation prior to the conclusion of the campaign.
Silva has not decided on his future
When asked about the Portuguese international last week, manager Pep Guardiola said he asked for an update from the player, but no decision has been made:
“I don’t have an idea. Honestly, I said to him (Silva), ‘When you take a decision, let me know’. But I don’t have any idea.”
It does appear as if Silva is still contemplating whether to continue his career with City. If he does stay at the Etihad for another year, he will have been with the club a full decade, having joined from Monaco in the summer of 2017.
The Man City star is not short of suitors
TEAMtalk report that Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have joined Juventus in pursuing Silva. Monaco and Saudi Pro League clubs could also enter the mix if the player signals an interest in moving to those destinations.
At the moment, it is believed that Juve are the only ones who have submitted a formal offer to the player. As he is inside the final six months of his contract, he is free to talk directly with clubs outside of England.
