Sergio Aguero Speaks Out On Which Club He Hopes £50M City Star Will Play For Next Season Amid Transfer Rumours

Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero is keen for Bernardo Silva to remain at the Etihad beyond the summer.

Despite signing a new contract at the start of the season, the Portuguese international has a £50m release clause, and he has been tipped for a potential transfer at the end of the season. Asked about his former teammate’s future, Aguero said:

“I hope he stays at City. He’s talented across the board and able to play many different roles. Bernardo knows how the team functions. All this being said, I think he deserves to choose his own future, and I hope Bernardo sees it in City.”

Silva has been linked with several teams over the past few months, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and even Arsenal.

Why would Silva want to leave City?

The 29-year-old has spent seven seasons at the Cityzens, having won 14 major trophies, including 5 league titles and the Champions League.

However, it has been suggested that Silva is keen on a new challenge in another country and the inclusion of the release clause in his contract was designed to give him a way out if a suitably attractive opportunity arrives.

He may not be the only midfielder leaving the club this summer

It seems almost certain that Kalvin Phillips will be sold once he returns from his loan spell at West Ham. The England international has struggled to establish himself since arriving from Leeds United in the summer of 2022.

There are also questions about the future of Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian is closing in on the final year of his contract with City and talks over an extension have not yet begun. Teams in Saudi Arabia and the United States are believed to be circling and there is a possibility that he could follow Phillips and Silva out the door.
