Manchester City may consider resurrecting their interest in Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to The Athletic.
The website claim that the Brazilian “is still keen” on making the switch to the Etihad, having been heavily linked with a move earlier on in the summer.
Fans on X would back the Cityzens tabling a bid for Guimaraes, who many feel would strengthen Pep Guardiola‘s options in the middle of the park:

Getting Guimaraes out of Newcastle would be very expensive
City had the opportunity to sign the 26-year-old in June, when he had a £100m release clause active. However, the Premier League champions felt that the price was too high.
Considering that the Magpies are not looking to sell Guimaraes, the cost of the deal is likely to be even higher now, even though other teams (such as Arsenal and Liverpool) have cooled their interest.
What has the City target said about a potential transfer?
Guimaraes spoke out last week to say that he has “never” requested a move away from St James’ Park, and he insists the prospect of a transfer has never crossed his mind:
“I am always here. I never said that I would like to leave. I didn’t know anything about it [the transfer speculation]. My focus was always Newcastle. I’m very happy. The gaffer has given me a big responsibility to be in the leadership group. I want to be a leader.”
“I want to help the club in many ways. Since I’ve been here, I’ve developed my game a lot. I’m grateful to him and his staff. Now I think it’s time to deliver something special.”
The fact that a release clause was included in his contract at all, though, does suggest that he is interested in moving if the opportunity arises. The question is, though, will City push the boat out to get him?
