Joe Cole Says Man City And Arsenal May Have “A Look” At Signing Player Who Chelsea Sold For Just £5M

TNT Sports pundit Joe Cole says Manchester City and Arsenal may have “a look” at signing Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi this summer.

The 24-year-old has impressed with his performances for the Tricky Trees over the past two seasons but Cole claims that, while there could be interest from “big clubs”, there is an argument for him staying at the City Ground:

“I’ve been so happy for him. He had a really bad injury and it took him while to get back to where he is now. He feels like he can drive past players again. You know what my advice to him would be?”

“There might be some big clubs sniffing around for him but he’s playing football and is happy and enjoying himself. There might be big clubs in stature like Arsenal or Man City having a look. But look at what you’ve got right now.”

Hudson-Odoi’s career has had its ups and downs

Chelsea handed the winger a lucrative contract to ward off interest from Bayern Munich in 2019 but an Achilles injury led to him struggling to recover his best form for several years.

Hudspn-Odoi was loaned out to Bayer Leverkusen before eventually being sold to Forest for just £5m at the start of last season. He has caught the eye since his move, scoring 13 goals in 53 league appearances, including the winner against City earlier this month.

City will be looking to strengthen other positions

It will be a busy summer in the transfer market for Pep Guardiola’s side but it’s unlikely that the club will prioritise the addition of another winger. Jeremy Doku, Savinho and Oscar Bobb are all options that are available to the manager.

Jack Grealish could be offloaded but, if they do choose to replace the England international, they will probably pursue someone like Florian Wirtz rather than Hudson-Odoi.

The Cityzens may still recruit a player from Forest, though. Reports suggest that they could snap up Ola Aina on a free transfer.
