Manchester City are set to sign an academy player from Chelsea, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Writing on his X account, Romano confirmed that an “agreement” has been “done” for midfielder Jeremiah Adesina.
The Chelsea Under 15 player’s move to Etihad Campus is expected to be made official over the coming weeks after a lengthy registration process.
Due to his age, Adesina is not tied down to a professional contract but academy transfers are monitored closely by the FA.
A five-stage process is undertaken to ensure that City have gone through all the necessary steps to snap up the youngster.
Man City have been adding several players to their academy
Adesina is by no means the only promising talent who is set to join the Manchester club.
It is believed that the Cityzens will also bring in the likes of Tottenham’s Dexter Oliver, Liverpool’s Kaylum Moss and Newcastle’s Ethan Fullen.
Mahamadou Sangare has already joined from Paris Saint-Germain after the striker impressed in the UEFA Youth League last season.
Are any more senior additions expected?
Director of Football Hugo Viana has already signed the likes of Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Marcus Bettinelli this summer
The focus for the rest of the transfer window will be to offload unwanted players, with manager Pep Guardiola keen to work with a smaller first-team squad.
Even so, you can’t rule out one or two more arrivals before the end of August. A replacement for the outgoing Kyle Walker is needed, although the chances of City landing their top target, Tino Livramento, appear to be remote.
Newcastle have shown no interest in selling the England international, so Guardiola’s team may have to look at alternatives, such as Flamengo’s Wesley.
