Man City are keeping close tabs on Bahia striker Dell, according to reports in the Brazilian media.
ESPN Brazil claim that the Cityzens are “watching” the teenager’s progress along with AC Milan.
Bahia is part of the City Football Group, so the chances of Dell making the switch to Manchester in the future are pretty high if he continues on his current path.
The 17-year-old does have a €100m (£87m) release clause in his contract, but that price is simply there to protect his value.
City would likely be able to seal Dell’s signature for a fee significantly below that amount.
What do City fans need to know about the forward?
Dell has come through Bahia’s youth system and he has caught the eye whilst playing in the Brazilian Under 20 Championship, as well as the Copinha (Brazil’s equivalent of the FA Youth Cup)
He has gained further recognition whilst playing for Brazil at Under 17 level, featuring in 4 matches at the South American Championships back in April, with his country going on to beat Colombia in the final on penalties.
Dell has also made his senior debut, playing in the Baiano State Championship fixture against Barcelona-BA back in February.
Dell has already been compared to Erling Haaland
The youngster’s nickname is ‘Haaland do Sertao’ or Brazilian Haaland, and when asked in an interview about it, he was more than willing to embrace the comparison:
“I’m very happy to receive that nickname. Haaland is [an] inspiration for many. He’s a guy I like to watch the videos for, both the positioning outside and also inside the area. I find my movements similar to his.”
Dell went on to say that it would be a “dream” to sign for Man City in the future, who he regards as the “best club in the world”.
