‘Yes!!’ ‘Excellent, Now Give Him A New Contract’ Fans Delighted As City Star Reveals He Is Staying

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has confirmed that he will be remaining at the Etihad this summer.

The Brazilian international had been heavily linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia but he said that, while he did receive offers to leave the Premier League champions, he ultimately decided to stay:

“It’s over. I spoke with some players, the coach, director, everyone. I talked to my family and it was a joint decision. We’ll stay more years at City. The media says many things, sometimes inventing a little more. But I’ve already decided my future, especially after the conversation I had with [Pep] Guardiola. This season, I’m totally focused at City with my teammates in search of more titles.”

Fans on X are happy that Ederson has committed his future to City and they have called on the club to hand the keeper a contract extension:

How close was Ederson to leaving?

It is believed that both Al-Ittihad and Al-Nassr made attempts to buy the 30-year-old but neither team were willing to pay City’s asking price.

The Manchester club were reportedly holding out for a fee between Β£40m and Β£50m. In the end, Al-Ittihad signed Predrag Rajkovic from Mallorca while Al-Nassr snapped up Ederson’s international teammate Bento.

City need to tie down their keeper to a new deal

With Ederson having said he is ready to stay in England for many years, it is the perfect opportunity to hand him a lengthy contract.

As things stand, the shot-stopper’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the 2025/26 season.
