Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson will join Fenerbahce, ending his eight-year association with the Sky Blues.
The Brazilian international is set to make the move to Turkey, with Pep Guardiola’s side receiving between €13m (£11.3m) and €14m (£12m) from his sale.
While Ederson’s departure from the Etihad seemed a long time coming, fans on X are still not particularly happy that he has left the club:
Not happy tbh 😔

Good for him. But we’re now materially weaker and the squad feels a mess

Don’t know what to make of it, but I hope we know what we are doing

Really not a fan of this. Should have kept him one more year to see out his contract.

We’ve done a big mistake again

Ederson’s contract situation forced the club’s hand
The 32-year-old was inside the final year of his contract so the Cityzens could either allow him to leave on a free transfer or sanction his departure now.
Ederson had flirted with the idea of moving to the Middle East last year, only for the deal to fall through after several Saudi Pro League clubs could not agree a transfer fee.
Earlier this summer, the keeper expressed his wish to stay, but after winning six Premier League titles, the Champions League, and 11 other major trophies, he has now moved on to pastures new.
Man City have already found their replacement
A move for PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma has been in the works for several weeks, but his arrival hinged on a buyer being found for Ederson.
Many regard Donnarumma as the best keeper in the world but his kicking isn’t in the same league as Ederson’s, and that could prove an issue for Guardiola and City over the coming months.
