Man City are “very interested” in bringing Felix Nmecha back to the club, according to Sky Sports Germany reporter Patrick Berger.

Nmecha left the Cityzens for Wolfsburg on a free transfer in 2021 before he moved to Borussia Dortmund for €30m two years later.

The 25-year-old made just three senior appearances during his time at the Etihad, and despite having become a fully-fledged German international since leaving City, fans on X are split on whether he should be re-signed:

Before the links to City emerged, it was reported by other sources in Germany last week that Manchester United and Chelsea were interested in the player as well.

It was suggested that Dortmund would hold out for as much as €70m (£61m), which seems like an excessive asking price. The Bundesliga side are, however, hoping to keep hold of the midfielder by tying him down to a new contract. His current one expires in 2028.

Man City are set to overhaul their midfield

With Bernardo Silva currently expected to leave when his contract expires at the end of June, and doubts over the futures of both Rodri and Mateo Kovacic, there is scope for recruiting more options in the middle of the park. Buy a Rodri fully articulated toy from Debenhams here.

In addition to Nmecha, the club are believed to be keen on purchasing Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.
