City Have Made ‘Recent Checks’ On £50M Rated De Bruyne Replacement Who Has Also Been Watched ‘Closely’ By Arsenal

Manchester City are keeping very close tabs on Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Georgiy Sudakov, according to GiveMeSport.

The website reports that the Premier League champions have made “recent checks” on the Ukrainian international as they weigh up a potential move during a future transfer window.

Sudakov does have other potential suitors in the Premier League, though, which may complicate the Cityzens’ attempts to secure his services.

GiveMeSport claim that Arsenal have also watched the 22-year-old “closely”, with there being a “good chance” that he could make a move to England next year.

Shakhtar won’t let Sudakov leave on the cheap

Speaking about the player’s future earlier this year, the club’s Director of Football Darijo Srna revealed that the midfielder has a sizeable asking price:

“Shakhtar’s president (Sergei Palkin) wants to get big money for Sudakov. If he wanted to get €40m to €45m, he would have already given him to Napoli.”

“But Sudakov is a unique footballer. He does a crazy amount of work and has a head on his shoulders. There are not many such players in Europe. Sudakov will leave for a very large sum. I’m sure it’s more than €60m (£50m).”

City may soon need a replacement for De Bruyne

There is an increasing likelihood that Kevin De Bruyne will leave the Etihad when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The Belgian international is believed to have several Saudi Pro League sides pursuing him but it is felt that a switch to the United States is more attractive for the player and his family.

Multiple reports have claimed that De Bruyne’s representatives have had contact with MLS’s newest franchise San Diego FC. If the 33-year-old were to accept an offer from across the pond, City will need a successor lined up. Considering they have retained their interest in Sudakov, it seems as if he is a prime candidate.
