Man City boss Enzo Maresca wasn’t giving much away when asked about the club’s goalkeeping situation.

James Trafford is expected to seal a £40m+ move to Leeds, while journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Cityzens have submitted an official bid for his replacement, Geronimo Rulli.

However, Maresca was keeping his cards close to his chest when he addressed the futures of the two keepers:

“There are no updates yet. James is still a Man City player and Rulli is still a Marseille player. So we’re going to wait in the next days.”

Why hasn’t Trafford’s move to Leeds been finalised?

It was reported just over a week ago (July 27th) that a deal was in place for the England international to make the switch to Elland Road, but there has been radio silence since then.

The explanation for the delay is likely to be pretty straightforward. City may simply want a replacement for Trafford lined up before signing off his exit, and with the club now having made a formal offer for Rulli, it looks like both moves could be sealed sooner rather than later.

How much will Man City need to pay for Rulli?

The Argentinian international has less than a year left on his contract at Marseille, and reports in the French media suggest that the Ligue One side would accept a fee in the region of €3.5m, which is exactly £3m.

For City, that is pocket change, so you wouldn’t anticipate lengthy negotiations before an agreement is reached to purchase Rulli.
