Man City and Man United are both “interested” in signing Gianluigi Donnarumma if he decides to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, according to RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins.
The journalist is very reliable when it comes to transfers and he claims that the Manchester rivals, Galatasaray and Saudi Pro League clubs are all in the mix for the goalkeeper.
Donnarumma has less than a year left on his contract at PSG and it is looking increasingly likely that he will be sold by the European champions this summer or leave on a free transfer next year.
Luis Enrique’s side have already covered themselves by looking to bring in Lucas Chevalier from Lille for €40m (£35m), but his arrival at the Parc des Princes would add further speculation about Donnarumma’s future.
Donnarumma could stay at PSG
Despite the addition of Chevalier, it is believed there is still a possibility that both keepers will compete for the same spot next season.
A final decision has yet to be made on that, though, and PSG may look to force Donnarumma out the door if it becomes clear that he will not put pen to paper on a contract renewal.
The Italian’s agents are considering every eventuality at the moment, so conversations have been had with the likes of Cityzens to gauge their interest.
Man City have already bought a goalkeeper
With Pep Guardiola’s side expected to seal the signature of Burnley’s James Trafford for £27m, it is somewhat surprising to hear that a bid for Donnarumma remains under consideration.
Of course, it may well be the case that Hawkins’ information is out of date, and now that Trafford is set to arrive at the Etihad, there is a chance that City will cool their interest in Donnarumma.
