Colin Hendry believes Manchester City winger Jack Grealish would be a good signing for rivals Arsenal.
The club’s record signing is expected to leave the Etihad this summer, and speaking to Coin Poker, Premier League title winner Hendry (who played for City in the early 90s) said Grealish could provide the Gunners with more creativity:
“I want to see him go and prove people wrong, even though he doesn’t really have anything to prove to anyone. Whether that is in the Premier League, with say a return to Aston Villa, or somewhere on the continent.”
“Whoever gets him will be getting an unbelievable player. I actually think he could be a good addition for a team like Arsenal because they’re in need of a bit more creativity.”
Man City are unlikely to sanction any more sales to Arsenal
Pep Guardiola’s side have sold a couple of players to the Gunners in recent years. Both Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus made the switch to the Emirates in 2022.
However, with Mikel Arteta’s side having since emerged as title contenders, no further deals have been sanctioned by the Cityzens.
Strengthening one of their main rivals for top spot would not be a good idea so it would be a surprise if Grealish ended up with the London club.
What is the latest on Grealish’s future?
The 29-year-old was left out of the squad for the Club World Cup and manager Pep Guardiola has subsequently stated that he wants to see the player move elsewhere so he can play on a regular basis.
Teams such as Aston Villa, Newcastle, Everton and others have been tipped as potential destinations but finances will dictate where Grealish will go.
Reports suggest City want around £45m for the England international and his £300,000 a week salary means only certain teams will be able to afford him.
