Man City have won the race for Leicester City winger Jeremy Monga, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. Posting on his X account, Romano said that the Cityzens have secured the signature of the teenager for £10m.

Monga is expected to officially make the switch to City after he turns 17 later this month.

As Romano mentions, Arsenal were in pole position to snap up Monga before City swooped in. The Gunners tabled an offer in the region of £5m for the teenager, but they were unwilling to match Leicester’s £10m valuation.

They could have gone to a tribunal if Monga had held out for a move to the Emirates, but it appears an intervention from Enzo Maresca made a difference.

The new Man City manager would have had interactions with the young forward during his time at Leicester.

Monga made his senior debut the season following Maresca’s departure for Chelsea, but he was on the cusp of a first-team breakthrough when the Italian secured the Championship title with the Foxes.

It is Man City’s 3rd summer signing

The arrivals of Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Troyes’ Mathys Detourbet have been confirmed, although the latter has already been loaned out to Monaco for the season.

Monga will therefore be the third addition of the summer transfer window, but he is unlikely to be the last.
