‘£10M Is A Bargain’ ‘Maybe 3 Years Ago’ Fans Debate Whether City Should Recruit German International In January

Manchester City are keen on signing Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich during the January transfer window, according to the Daily Star.

The German is closing in on the final six months of his contract at the Allianz Arena and he could be available for “as little as” £10m next month.

Fans on X are split on whether a move for Kimmich is a good idea. Some believe the fact that he can be signed for such a low price makes the deal a no-brainer, but others fear that the midfielder is past his prime:

Kimmich is unlikely to leave before the summer

While the Cityzens may be hopeful of recruiting the 29-year-old in January, it would be a surprise if Bayern sanctioned a transfer.

Head coach Vincent Kompany is said to be keen on keeping hold of Kimmich, while there is still a chance that the player will sign a contract extension.

Are City considering any alternatives?

The Daily Star report that Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes remains on the club’s radar while an approach for Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi cannot be ruled out either.

However, the English tabloid does say that the latter is also being pursued by Arsenal and Liverpool, which may complicate things in terms of securing the player’s signature.
