Manchester City are interested in signing AIK Freetong centre-back Juma Bah during the January transfer window, according to reports.
Writing on his Patreon, The Sun journalist Alan Nixon said that the 18-year-old is a player that the Premier League champions are hoping to sign next month.
Bah is currently on loan at Real Valladolid. He was originally signed to play for the La Liga side’s second string but he impressed the club’s coaching staff so much that he has been playing for the first team.
So far this season, the teenager has made 11 appearances in all competitions for Valladolid, making 9 starts in total.
City could face competition for the player
The Cityzens are not the only Premier League team who are believed to be keeping a close eye on the Sierra Leone defender’s performances.
Both Chelsea and Newcastle have also been credited with an interest in Bah over the past week or so.
Bah would not move to the Etihad straight away
Nixon reports that City’s intention would be to purchase the centre-half from AIK Freetong but loan him straight back to Real Valladolid for the rest of this season so he can continue to play on a regular basis.
Although manager Pep Guardiola could do with reinforcements in the middle of the defence, with John Stones having joined Ruben Dias on the treatment table, Bah is not experienced enough to really be of much use at the moment.
As mentioned, he has only made his breakthrough this campaign so throwing him in at the deep end in a team like City that are struggling would not be a good idea.
If he does make the move to Manchester, though, fans should expect Bah to be part of the first-team squad ahead of next season.
