Man City Told They Will Need A ‘Very High Offer’ If They Want To Sign “Outstanding” Right-Back

Brentford have warned potential suitors, including Manchester City, that right-back Michael Kayode will only be sold if they receive a “very high offer”, according to reports.

Tutto Juve claim that the Cityzens are one of six clubs who are interested in signing the Italian Under 21 international, along with Juventus, Inter Milan, Newcastle, Tottenham and Bayern Munich.

Kayode joined Brentford from Fiorentina on a permanent basis for €17.5m in May, having spent the second half of last season on loan at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Since then, the 21-year-old’s performances have grabbed attention. He has been described as an “outstanding all-rounder and creator”.

Man City want a new right-back

Pep Guardiola’s side have been on the lookout for reinforcements on the right-hand side of defence for over a year.

Since Kyle Walker left for AC Milan on loan last January and then departed for Burnley on a permanent deal, the club have been scouring the market for a potential successor.

At the start of 2025, negotiations were held to bring in Juventus’s Andrea Cambiaso. City ultimately decided to pull out of that deal. Their focus then switched to Newcastle’s Tino Livramento, but they were told by the Magpies in no uncertain terms that the defender was not for sale.

Kayode is a viable option

The Italian now has 12 months of experience in the Premier League, and he is still only 21 years of age. This season, he has yet to score or provide an assist, but he is a danger in the final third with his overlapping runs and long throws.

Brentford are clearly trying to ward off teams by placing a high valuation on Kayode, but we shall have to wait and see whether it discourages City from making an approach.
