£60M Rated PL Star Says He Would “Choose Manchester City” Despite Chelsea Transfer Talks

Nottingham Forest defender Murillo says he would be keen on joining Manchester City if he gets the chance to do so.

The Brazilian was asked about his future by the Benja Me Mucho YouTube channel (quotes via the Nottingham Post), and he said he wouldn’t be against leaving the City Ground this summer.

“We don’t know anything for certain, the window opened last month so I’m going to return to Nottingham Forest for pre-season. There might be some discussions on whether I’ll stay or not so there’s a lot of things to happen still but I’m relaxed.”

Prompted about which team he would like to sign for in the Premier League, Murillo said:

“I’d choose Manchester City but it would be more difficult for me to be a regular starter given the players they have in their squad. There’s City, Arsenal as well, who are fighting for the Premier League title. I wouldn’t discard Liverpool either, it would be a good opportunity for me to show my football in a big club.”

The defender was being pursued by Chelsea

Ironically, the one club Murillo doesn’t mention is Chelsea, who are said to have made enquiries about the 21-year-old’s availability last month.

It appears that the centre-back has his sights firmly set on playing for a team that can challenge for the Premier League title if he leaves Forest.

Murillo is not exactly available on the cheap

There is, however, a danger that the player could be priced out of a move away from the City Ground. It is believed that Forest are demanding no less than £60m from potential suitors.

Considering City have two left-sided centre-halves in Josko Gvardiol and Nathan Ake, you can’t see the Premier League champions getting involved in a transfer battle for Murillo.
