‘Deserved’ ‘Get It Done ASAP’ Fans React As City Try To Ward Off Interest In “Outstanding” Talent By Offering New Deal

Manchester City are “set to hand” midfielder Nico O’Reilly a new five-year contract, according to reports in the English media.

Tabloid newspaper The Sun claim that Pep Guardiola’s side will offer the 20-year-old a “double your money” deal that means he will earn £25,000 a week.

Considering O’Reilly’s recent performances, most notably against Bournemouth in the FA Cup, supporters on X agree he deserves to be given an extension:

City are trying to ward off interest in the midfielder

In addition to rewarding O’Reilly for his fine form, the Premier League champions are also trying to keep him out of the clutches of their rivals.

Chelsea have been circling the England Under 21 international, having had an approach knocked back during the January transfer window.

The Sun report that if O’Reilly puts pen to paper on the new contract, it would extinguish any hopes that the Blues have of signing him.

O’Reilly has been praised by his manager

Speaking after providing two assists in the 2-1 win over Bournemouth late last month, Guardiola said:

“His impact today was outstanding. He’s going to play in semi-final for sure!”

Guardiola also decided to play him in the Manchester derby on Sunday evening, although the midfielder wasn’t quite as influential.
