Man City Have Decided Where Nico O’Reilly Will Play His Football Next Season Amid “Strong” Premier League Interest

Manchester City will not sanction the sale of midfielder Nico O’Reilly this summer, according to reports.

The Manchester Evening News claim that Pep Guardiola’s side have “no plans” to consider offers for the 20-year-old despite attracting attention from several clubs.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano says that Premier League and Bundesliga sides are showing “strong interest” in O’Reilly, who is keen on getting regular game time.

Some sources have once again linked Chelsea, who are said to have made a fresh enquiry after first making an approach back in January.

However, manager Pep Guardiola is said to be very keen on keeping O’Reilly at the Etihad, having started him on a regular basis in the second half of last season.

O’Reilly will have to fight for game time

One of the reasons why there have been doubts about the youngster’s future is the sheer amount of competition for places.

Tijjanni Reijnders, Rodri, Nico Gonzalez and Mateo Kovacic are all available to play in O’Reilly’s preferred holding midfield role.

Of course, Guardiola did deploy him at left-back in plenty of games last campaign but Rayan Ait-Nouri has recently been signed from Wolves, which will limit his minutes in that position too. Even so, it appears that he won’t be given the option to leave.

Man City will sanction another academy player’s departure

While O’Reilly appears to be staying put, the Cityzens have decided to offload James McAtee. The 22-year-old also has plenty of suitors and there were suggestions he would be sold for a fee in the region of £25m.

That figure is, however, believed to be inaccurate, with his real asking price being £40m. We shall see if any potential suitor is prepared to pay that much for the England Under-21 international.

In other news, Man City are reportedly vying with Manchester United and Chelsea for a Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper
