Eintracht Frankfurt chief executive Markus Krosche says he cannot guarantee that Manchester City target Omar Marmoush will be in the matchday squad for their game against Freiburg on Tuesday evening.
It is believed that the Premier League champions will table a formal bid for the Egyptian international imminently and, asked whether the player will be available to play midweek, Krosche replied:
“I can’t answer that 100%. I say that quite honestly. The goal, as I have always said, is that we want to keep this team together. So far I don’t see anything out of the ordinary.”
Frankfurt reportedly want at least €80m (£67m) for Marmoush so it remains to be seen whether the Cityzens will match the asking price, but they are the favourites for his signature with other teams, such as Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham, having not stepped up their interest.
Why are City so keen on signing the forward?
Marmoush has been in great form since the start of the last season. The 25-year-old scored 17 goals in 41 appearances during the 2023/24 campaign.
He has already surpassed that total this time around, bagging 19 goals in 25 matches. The fact that he can play right across the front three also means manager Pep Guardiola has the flexibility to play him in multiple positions.

The City boss has not been shy in saying that his team currently rely too much on Erling Haaland. Even after scoring 8 against Salford in the FA Cup at the weekend, he made a point to say that the club need more goals if they want to win another Premier League title:
“You have to score goals and make assists – just to rely on the goals of Haaland is impossible. The biggest clubs that win the league have strikers that score goals like Sergio [Aguero] and Gabriel Jesus but also Riyad [Mahrez], Raheem [Sterling], Leroy [Sane], [Ilkay] Gundogan. A lot of players score a lot of goals and we need that.”
