Man City have slapped a £30m asking price on Oscar Bobb, according to reports.
The Daily Mail claim that the Norwegian international is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium during the January transfer window, in light of Antoine Semenyo’s impending arrival.
Bobb has plenty of suitors. Borussia Dortmund have emerged as early front runners, after holding discussions with the player’s entourage.
However, the Mail claim that there are also several Premier League clubs interested in securing the 22-year-old’s services, including Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Fulham.
Guardiola says he rates Bobb
It wasn’t that long ago when manager Pep Guardiola was talking up the Norwegian’s potential. Speaking back in November, he said:
“I have a lot, a lot of incredible, good opinion about him. He played good the first two or three games, defensively on the high pressing, his intuition is extraordinary. The moment he frees his mind he can do it.”
“The last games with Norway he played really, really good. He will be at the World Cup. I missed him last season a lot. He’s going to help us. When he plays he play really good. It’s the first time he played more minutes in a team like #ManCity. He’s so young. Step by step. He has to take the minutes that we give him the best for the team and himself.”
Man City are hoping they have found an upgrade
Clearly, Guardiola has had a change of heart if he is now willing to let Bobb leave on a permanent basis. That U-turn may be the result of his determination to sign Semenyo.
The Cityzens are expected to trigger the Ghanaian’s £65m release clause over the coming days, although Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has insisted that the winger will play against Arsenal this weekend.
