Manchester City have “fielded enquiries” from Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund for winger Oscar Bobb, according to GiveMeSport.
The Norwegian international has impressed for the Cityzens in pre-season but there has been speculation about his future at the Etihad.
Some have questioned whether Bobb will get game time under manager Pep Guardiola next campaign, likening his situation to Cole Palmer.
Chelsea, coincidentally, have already been credited with an interest in the 21-year-old, with suggestions that Joe Shields (who spearheaded their efforts to sign Palmer) wants to make another raid on City.
Now, it appears Newcastle and Dortmund are also testing the waters to discover whether Bobb will be made available for transfer this summer.
Guardiola is a big fan of the player
Speaking after Bobb scored 1 goal and provided 2 assists in the 4-3 friendly defeat to Celtic earlier this week, Guardiola said:
“Sometimes he’s a bit shy but when he plays without fear he has incredible potential. He connected well, and Nico [O’Reilly] played well too. You come here, and they were tough opponents. All of them will be, AC Milan, Barcelona, Chelsea, they have top players.”
City intend to give Bobb more playing opportunities
GiveMeSport claim that Guardiola does plan to give the Norwegian plenty of starts this season, which should help the club’s chances of keeping him.
Bobb made 26 appearances in all competitions for the first team last campaign, but he was only named in the starting eleven on 8 occasions. The forward will definitely expect to play more if he does remain in Manchester.
He may look at what has happened to Palmer since he left the club as the example to follow but City will be very keen to ensure he stays and produces the goods in a Sky Blue shirt.
