‘Too Good To Play Second Fiddle’ ‘Give Him What He Wants’ Fans React As City Player Hints At Summer Transfer

Manchester City No.2 Stefan Ortega has suggested that he could leave the Etihad at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old will have a year left on his contract this summer, and the German claims that he will have to consider his options:

“At the end, it’s not my single decision. My missus is there as well, we’re expecting the second child. I’m not in the beginning of my 20s, so I have to choose wisely now what I’m doing in the summer. It’s not that I have to push the club that they will sell me, it’s just like see what happens. I’m relaxed because there are worse places than here.”

Ortega has performed well in the absence of the injured Ederson and fans on X would be happy to see him remain at City beyond this campaign:

Ortega has earned the right to become No.1

Since arriving from Arminia Bielefeld in the summer of 2022, the keeper has performed his role as understudy to Ederson ably.

At 31 years of age, though, Ortega is not getting any younger and he will feel that he is more than capable of being first choice at this stage of his career. As he is unlikely to get the game time he wants at City, he will have to seriously look at offers from other teams.
