Journalist Claims Man City “Like” 36 Cap International And Suggests £100M Player Could Move The Other Way

Manchester City are the favourites to snap up AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez, according to journalist Maurizio Russo.

The Frenchman, who has been capped 36 times by his country, is likely to leave the San Siro at the end of the season. Russo says a move to Manchester is a strong possibility, especially if Jack Grealish is open to a transfer in the other direction:

“He [Hernandez] was linked to Bayern [Munich] to go and play with his brother [in the past], but the Germans have just renewed [Alphonso] Davies and so the trail should disappear.”

“City like him, where there is Grealish who could interest Milan if Leao were to leave. Real also like him, where Hernandez’s career began.”

Hernandez’s contract talks have stalled

Up until recently, it was thought that the 27-year-old would sign a new deal to remain with Milan, but there is growing pessimism that the defender will put pen to paper on an extension.

Hernandez will have a year remaining on his contract in July so he could be available for a knockdown price. Reports suggest that a fee of between €35m (£29m) and €40m (£33m) may be enough to secure his services.

Of course, the fullback’s availability may attract other suitors. Back in December, it was claimed that Chelsea and Arsenal were also keeping a close eye on his situation.

What’s the latest on Grealish’s future at City?

The England international has struggled for form since the treble-winning season in 2022/23. Injuries have played their part (especially this campaign), but he hasn’t really met expectations since his £100m move from Aston Villa in 2021.

There is a growing belief that Grealish will be allowed to leave the Etihad this summer and a transfer to Italy could well be explored.
