Manchester City will offer Tijjani Reijnders “more than double” his current €3.5m a year salary, according to reports in Italy.
The Netherlands international only signed a new five-year contract with AC Milan back in March but the Cityzens have made him a top target for the summer transfer window.
Calciomercato.com claim that an agreement on personal terms won’t be a problem, and contacts over the deal have been “continuous” in recent days.
It is believed that Pep Guardiola’s side will make their “first written proposal” to Milan for Reijnders at some point next week but there is likely to be a substantial gap to bridge in terms of the two clubs’ valuation of the player.
Milan want upwards of £63m for Reijnders
The Rossoneri are keen to receive a club record transfer fee and Calciomercato say that they are demanding between €70m (£59m) and €75m (£63m) including adds-on.
City, on the other hand, are hoping to get a deal done for around €65m (£54.6m) so there is still some distance between the two sides.
De Bruyne could leave City for Italy
Reijnders has been tipped as Kevin De Bruyne’s replacement. The Belgian international will leave the Etihad when his contract expires at the end of next month.
It is believed that he has an offer on the table from Serie A champions Napoli. The Italian club are said to have tabled a three-year contract to the 33-year-old.
The package an offer is reportedly worth €27m, including a signing-on fee. De Bruyne is expected to make a decision on whether he wants to move to Naples within the next week or so. He also has a proposal from MLS side Chicago Fire but it looks like Napoli are his preferred destination at the moment.
