Man City Set To ‘Open Formal Talks’ As They Look To Secure £87M Double Transfer – Report

Manchester City are hoping to sign two players from AC Milan this summer, according to reports.

Several sources in recent months have suggested that the Cityzens are interested in midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, while they have scouted Theo Hernandez for a number of years.

TEAMtalk claim that Pep Guardiola’s side are now set to step up their interest in the pair, with the club likely to “open formal talks” with Milan over the coming weeks.

Reijnders is being targeted to strengthen the club’s midfield options following the news that Kevin De Bruyne will leave the Etihad at the end of the season when his contract expires.

A new left-back, meanwhile, has also reportedly been on Guardiola’s agenda for quite some time and it is felt that Hernandez’s availability for a relatively modest fee is too good an opportunity to turn down.

How much will City have to pay for the two players?

It is believed that Milan are holding out for a fee in the region of €70m (£61m) for Reijnders. The Netherlands international only signed a new contract last month keeping him at the San Siro until 2030.

The situation with Hernandez is somewhat different. The Frenchman’s current deal expires next year and the Rossoneri will reluctantly sell the fullback for around €30m (£26m).

Will there be competition for Reijnders or Hernandez?

Chelsea have been mentioned as a potential suitor for Reijnders in recent months. They are keen on bringing in a midfielder this summer but their top priorities are said to be a new No.9 and a left winger.

Hernandez, meanwhile, is reportedly hoping to return to one of his former clubs, Real Madrid, but City are currently the only team willing to put money on the table.
