Man City are “expected” to make an “approach” for Newcastle fullback Tino Livramento in the New Year, according to the Daily Mail reporter Craig Hope.
The journalist broke the news that Alexander Isak wanted to leave the Magpies last summer and he now says Livramento is in the “sights” of City after it emerged that the defender has delayed talks over a contract extension.
Supporters on X are split on whether signing Livramento would be a good idea, with some suggesting that the club should pursue Feyenoord’s Givairo Read instead:

Givairo Read still remains a cheaper option

Givairo Read is better and cheaper

Do we need him?

Livramento will not be cheap
Despite the delay in talks over a new deal, the England international’s current contract still has two and a half years left to run. It means that Newcastle are not in a position yet where they have to sell.
Reports last summer suggested that the Magpies may hold out for a fee in excess of £70m, which may put off the Cityzens from pushing ahead with the transfer.
Nunes has had a decent season for Man City
As a few fans have pointed out, the need for a new right-back does not seem as urgent as it was last summer. Matheus Nunes has noticeably improved in recent months.
It is still up for debate whether the 27-year-old is the long-term solution for the right-back position, but it means that Pep Guardiola‘s side don’t have to go overboard in their attempts to secure Livramento’s signature in January or at the end of the season.
