How Many Trophies Have Man City Won? How Club Record Compares To Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal And Chelsea

Manchester City are the joint-fourth most successful team in English football – having won multiple domestic and European trophies.

There have certainly been plenty of ups and downs in the club’s history, even recently, having sunk as low as the third division over the past thirty years.

However, City fans are now experiencing a golden age under the ownership of Sheikh Mansour and the Abu Dhabi Group. In recent seasons, they have been catching up with their rivals Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea in terms of the amount of silverware won.

Man City’s trophy record

The Cityzens have won 34 trophies since the club was formed in 1880, which includes nine top division titles, seven FA Cups, eight League Cups, six FA Community Shields, one UEFA Champions League, one European Cup Winners’ Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, and one FIFA Club World Cup.

Nearly half of those trophies have been won since 2016 when Pep Guardiola took over as manager at the Etihad Stadium.

How many times have Man City won the Premier League?

The Manchester club have lifted the title seven times during the Premier League era. The first came in 2012 under the management of Roberto Mancini, when a famous goal against QPR from Sergio Aguero on the final day of the season sealed top spot ahead of archrivals Manchester United.

Their second title came two years later in 2014, when Manuel Pellegrini had taken charge. It was the Chilean’s first season at the helm but he clinched first place; two points ahead of Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola was the manager when Man City won their third crown in 2018, and they have finished top of the table four more times since then, with the latest title being secured in 2023.

How does Man City’s trophy record compare to rivals?

The Cityzens are still quite far behind United won it comes to the total number of trophies won. The Red Devils are the second most successful team in English football, having won 67 trophies, including 20 league titles and three Champions Leagues.

Liverpool, meanwhile have won 69 trophies in all, including 19 top division titles and six Champions Leagues. Arsenal have 49 pieces of silverware in total, but Chelsea do have the same number of trophies (34) as City.

Like City, the London side have secured the majority of their silverware over the past 20 years, having won five of their six league titles, and both of their European Cups during that period.
