Manager Pep Guardiola hopes that Mateo Kovacic only picked up a knock against Ipswich after he was forced off early in the second half.

The Croatian international stayed down after a collision with Liam Delap, and the decision was made to replace him with John Stones. Speaking after the match, Guardiola said:

“I didn’t speak with the doctors. I think it was a knock. Liam Delap, we know from here, is so aggressive with that. We have six, seven days until the next game, and we will see if he can recover.”

Based on Guardiola’s remarks, it appears City are optimistic that Kovacic will be back in contention next weekend.

Expected Return Date – Saturday 31st August v West Ham
