Manchester City Trio Set To Return From Injury Ahead Of Tottenham Hotspur Clash

Manchester City face a tough game against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend at the Etihad Stadium.

City have lost four games in a row in all competitions for the first time in Pep Guardiola’s managerial career and one of the biggest reasons is due to their ongoing injury crisis.

Up to six players could miss the game against Spurs this weekend that City will be desperate to win due to the fact that they are now five points behind league leaders Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola handed the team a boost this week however as reports have emerged that he has agreed to a one-year contract extension keeping him at the Etihad for at least one more season.

It might give the players the boost they need ahead of Spurs’ visit, that combined with the fact that three key players are set to return from injury this weekend.

Phil Foden

Attacker Foden missed out on Lee Carsley’s final international break as England interim manager due to a knock that he picked up during the 2-1 defeat to Brighton before the break.

He has been resting over the past week and a half to try and get fit for the big game against Spurs and he has been seen in training.

City would have to face a major set-back to mean that Foden won’t be available on Saturday as he is virtually ready to go.

John Stones

Centre-back John Stones has missed City’s last three games, all of which have been losses, so Pep Guardiola will be pleased to see the defender back in action.

He was seen in training this week after Stones also missed the international break and should be in line to start against a Spurs team who are the top scoring team in the Premier League.

Stones will be needed and his Fasciitis splinter seems to be cleared up meaning that Guardiola should be free to select the defender on Saturday.

Jack Grealish

The winger has been side-lined for a month after suffering an injury in City’s 2-1 win against Wolves in mid-October.

He was called up by Lee Carsley for international duty, however, he had to pull out due to him not being fully recovered from his issue.

Grealish is back now however and should be available for selection on Saturday after being in training for at least two weeks now.
