Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has responded to criticism by manager Pep Guardiola about his social media use, in typical Mendy fashion.
Mendy feels like a brand new signing for City this season, having spent the majority of their title winning campaign out injured.
And the Frenchman played a key role in City’s 2-0 victory over Arsenal on Sunday, showing exactly why Guardiola paid almost £50m to sign him last summer.
When asked about Mendy’s tendency to appear where he was least expected, Guardiola grinned and said: “That is not good! Mendy is Mendy, and at times it is what it is.
“Sometimes we want to kill him, and sometimes you say ‘Wow, what a player we have!
“He gives us this extra energy, with Kyle Walker, that helps us.
“Mendy has a lot of thing to improve. Hopefully we can convince him to be calm, to forget a little bit the social media and focus on what he has to do.”
Obviously Guardiola’s comments were said in a joking fashion, and Mendy took to Twitter in order to respond in a typically hilarious way.
