Goalkeeper and Defence
GK – Ederson – the Brazilian has been far from his best this season but Guardiola continues to favour him ahead of Stefan Ortega.
RB – Matheus Nunes – the 26-year-old was woeful against Club Brugge but Rico Lewis isn’t in great form either. City really need to sign a replacement for Kyle Walker this month.
CB – John Stones – the centre-back looked rusty on Wednesday night but he should keep his place ahead of Abdukodir Khusanov who lacks the experience to play in such a big fixture.
CB – Manuel Akanji – the Swiss international is the one who needs to hold things together at the back.
LB – Josko Gvardiol – the defender is making a name for himself as a marauding winger. He is in excellent form currently.
