Ranking The Teams Who Had The BEST Summer Transfer Windows In The Premier League

The 2023 summer transfer window has now closed for clubs in the Premier League – let’s take a look at which teams conducted the shrewdest business.

Recently, we looked at the four teams who had the worst transfer windows in the Premier League over the summer – today, we’ll be doing the opposite of this.

It has been one of the most tumultuous summers in football history – players such as Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister have all moved for massive fees.

But, just because a club has spent a lot of money, this does not mean they have led a positive window – today, that is what we will be examining.

Bournemouth

When Bournemouth announced that Gary O’Neil would leave the club at the end of the 2022/23 season, people began to worry for the Cherries’ Premier League safety – however, after an excellent transfer window, their concerns have been put to rest.

With new head coach Andoni Iraola at the helm, they have brought talents such as Max Aarons, Luis Sinisterra and Tyler Adams to the club – all for affordable prices.

Perhaps the crown jewel of their transfer window exploits is Alex Scott, who they snapped up from Bristol City for £25 million. He looks to be an excellent young talent, possessing wonderful ball control and brilliant movement.

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola’s transfer business hasn’t always been spot on – the acquisitions of Nolito and Danilo spring to mind – but there were no misses this year.

It was primed to be a difficult window for the Sky Blues – how does one improve upon near-perfection? However, City seem to have found a way.

They have brought top talents such as Matheus Nunes, Jeremy Doku and Josko Gvardiol to the club – it seems their dominance over English football is set to continue for some time to come.

Aston Villa

While Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have not had a brilliant start to the 2023/24 Premier League season, their superlative foray into the transfer market over the summer cannot be denied.

Emery has brought players such as Pau Torres, Nicolo Zaniolo and Moussa Diaby to the club, all of whom look like intelligent signings (especially in the case of Diaby).

Furthermore, they also managed to capture Youri Tielemans from Leicester City on a free transfer – picking up such a good player for absolutely nothing is very rare in today’s game.

Brighton

There can only be one winner in a list such as this – Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton were undoubtedly the undisputed kings of the 2023 summer transfer window.

Not only were they successful in bringing in quality players, they also did not pay a lot to secure their services. Their most expensive transfer, when they signed Carlos Baleba, cost them just £23.2 million.

While yes, they lost some of their key players, such as Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo – they made sure to replace them and did not let them go without taking massive sums of money.
