Chelsea beat off Serie A champions Inter Milan to win the race for highly-rated young wingback Marco Palestra. The Italian international will provide competition for captain Reece James.
Frank Onyeka spent the second half of last season on loan at Coventry City from Brentford, and he has now joined the newly-promoted side on a permanent deal.
Everton have had a busy start to the summer, having recruited Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough, and they have triggered their option to buy Merlin Rohl from Freiburg.
Tyrique George is expected to follow. The winger spent last season on loan with the Toffees, and David Moyes’ side have subsequently agreed a deal to sign him from Chelsea for £24m (including add-ons).
