Premier League Legend Says He Would ‘Love’ To Play Against Manchester City Star Erling Haaland

Premier League and Arsenal legend Tony Adams has recently said that he would ‘love’ to play against Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland in an interview with TalkSPORT.

In the interview, which also featured current Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard, Adams said: “I’d love to give you a hand to be honest, that would be right up my street. I’d get your mate and give him a good kicking… fairly, of course.”

Odegaard gave a tongue-in-cheek reply: “Yeah, you should come, we’ll sign you up for this game.”

Adams certainly dealt with some fearsome centre-forwards in his time as an active player, including Eric Cantona, Alan Shearer and Marco Van Basten. However, we aren’t sure if he ever faced anyone quite like Erling Haaland.

The former Arsenal captain certainly would’ve struggled with the Norwegian’s pace – he was never the quickest defender in the world. He would, however, have an answer for Haaland’s physicality.

Adams’ career began all the way back in 1983 – he spent his entire 19-year-long run as a professional with the Gunners. In that time, he scored 32 goals for the North London club across 504 appearances. He was the embodiment of an old-school defender – what he lacked in technical ability, he made up for with grit, determination and brute force.

Manchester City will take on Arsenal in the Premier League on Wednesday evening in an unmissable encounter – check out our breakdown of the game before it takes place.
