The Five Longest Serving Managers At Clubs In The Premier League

Even in English football, where managers are generally given more time in their jobs, clubs are starting to wield the axe a lot quicker than they used to do.

There are sizeable financial pressures on teams, whether that relates to qualifying for the Champions League or avoiding relegation, and those considerations have a big bearing on the decisions that boards make.

So, it is a rarety when a manager lasts more than a few years these days. The coaches on our list are all at Premier League teams where there is a great deal of stability.

Press the next page as we count down the five longest-serving managers currently plying their trade in the English top flight.

5) Thomas Frank (Brentford) – 3 Years And 122 Days

The eccentric Dane has done an excellent job after taking over from Dean Smith. He helped the Bees finish eleventh after Smith left for Aston Villa in 2018, before he guided them to a third-place finish during his first full season in charge.

After losing out in the playoffs in 2020, Brentford made another attempt to gain promotion last year and they succeeded. Frank’s team have done very well in their first Premier League campaign, currently sitting 14th in the table.

4) Marcelo Bielsa (Leeds) – 3 Years And 245 Days

It was a massive coup when the Whites secured the services of the Argentinian legend in 2018, and he hasn’t disappointed, getting them promoted to the top flight during his second season at the helm.

After keeping Leeds up during their first Premier League campaign for sixteen years, the task for Bielsa now will be to consolidate and help the club become an established top division team once again.

3) Pep Guardiola (Manchester City) – 5 Years And 229 Days

The Spaniard is in his longest spell in management at any team and, with the resources at his disposal, why would he go anywhere else?

Guardiola may have spent big in the transfer market since his arrival at the Etihad but he has backed that up with huge success on the pitch, winning ten major trophies.

2) Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool) – 6 Years And 130 Days

The German has done a remarkable job at Anfield, turning the Reds from also-rans in the Premier League to competing for titles on all fronts.

Since being appointed in October 2015, Klopp has won the Champions League, the Premier League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

1) Sean Dyche (Burnley) – 9 Years And 108 Days

The 50-year-old has been working on a shoestring budget at the Lancashire club for many years, but his abilities have managed to keep his team in the top flight since 2016.

This campaign, Burnley do appear to be in danger of relegation but, even if they do go down, you would back the Clarets to stick with Dyche.
