The FIVE Most Valuable Under 23 Stars Who Made Their Premier League Debut This Season

Some talented youngsters have made their debuts in the Premier League this season and their values in the transfer market have skyrocketed as a consequence.

CIES Football Observatory have scoured Europe’s top five leagues and ranked players under the age of 23 in terms of their asking price as they start to make a name for themselves at the top level.

Not all of the players in our top five have made outstanding starts when it comes to their introduction to the English top-flight, but they are all highly regarded nonetheless.

Press the next page as we rank the five most valuable under 23 stars who have been handed their debuts in the Premier League during the 2021/22 campaign.

5) Vitaly Mykolenko – Everton (€15.8m)

After Rafa Benitez’s falling out with Lucas Digne, and the Frenchman’s subsequent move to Aston Villa, a new left-back was needed during the January transfer window, and the Toffees plumped for Mykolenko.

It hasn’t been an easy start to life in England for the Ukrainian, coming into a team that was struggling at the wrong end of the table. The defender will need more time to settle before any sweeping judgements are made.

4) Albert Sambi Lokonga – Arsenal (€20.5m)

The Belgian midfielder played regularly for Anderlecht’s first team before he made the switch to Arsenal for £17m last summer.

However, things haven’t exactly gone to plan for Lokonga, with the 22-year-old having started only twelve league games for the Gunners so far. He will be hoping to make a bigger impact at the Emirates going forward.

3) Michael Olise – Crystal Palace (€22.4m)

The Frenchman caught the eye with his performances for Reading in the Championship last campaign, and Palace won the race for his signature back in July.

Olise has been excellent during his first season at Selhurst Park, scoring four goals and providing nine assists in 29 appearances for the Eagles.

2) Tino Livramento – Southampton (€23.7m)

The Saints managed to prise the talented fullback away from Chelsea at the start of the season, and it has proven to be a very smart acquisition indeed.

Livramento has been earning rave reviews for his performances at right-back, and he has been a regular starter for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side despite only being 19 years of age.

1) Marc Guehi – Crystal Palace (€50m)

The second Palace player on this list, as well as the second Chelsea academy graduate, the centre-back has been a commanding presence in defence for Patrick Vieira’s team.

Guehi was even handed his first senior cap for England last month, playing the full 90 minutes in the 2-1 friendly win against Switzerland.
