The FIVE Players With The Most Assists In One Premier League Season

Following our look at the players who have scored the most Premier League hat tricks last week, today we will be profiling the assist kings.

Playmakers can play in pretty much any outfield position these days, with the possible exception of centre-back, but all but one of the players in our top five are central midfielders.

The names on this list won’t come as much of a surprise to most avid Premier League watchers, but they were great footballers for a reason.

Press the next page as we go through the Premier League stars with the most assists in a single season.

=4) Cesc Fabregas – Chelsea (18 Assists – 2014/15)

The Spaniard returned to English football in 2014 after a spell with Barcelona and he was an instant hit at the Blues.

Fabregas’s assists were integral to Jose Mourinho’s side lifting the Premier League title and he would go on to have even more success with the London club.

=4) Frank Lampard – Chelsea (18 Assists – 2004/05)

The former England international was probably more known for his goalscoring, which is not surprising considering he is Chelsea’s all-time leading scorer with 211 goals.

However, Lampard had many other aspects to his game, and his ability to create chances was on full display when the Blues sealed their first-ever Premier League crown in 2005.

3) Mesut Ozil – Arsenal (19 Assists – 2015/16)

The German’s reputation did take a hit after the way things ended for him at the Emirates, but there can be no doubting his talent. He was one of the best playmakers of the last twenty years.

Pundits have never stopped criticising Ozil for his languid style and his lack of pressing but, when you can create so many goalscoring opportunities, he can be forgiven for some of his flaws.

=1) Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City (20 Assists – 2019/20)-

The incredible thing about the Belgian midfield maestro is that he could have featured twice on this list. He provided 18 assists during the 2016/17 campaign.

However, De Bruyne exceeded that figure in 2020. He was named PFA Player of the Year for his outstanding form but, ironically, City didn’t win the title that season.

=1) Thierry Henry – Arsenal (20 Assists – 2002/03)

The Frenchman’s outstanding all-round game means he is justifiably touted by many as the best player of the Premier League era. As well as sitting seventh on the all-time list for goals, he jointly holds the record for most assists in one season.

In 2002/03, Henry scored 24 league goals and 20 assists but it still wasn’t enough to beat Manchester United to the league title. A year later, though, he was part of the Gunners’ historic ‘Invincibles’ team.
