The Top Five Bargain Signings Of The 2020 Summer Transfer Window

With the summer transfer window having closed on Monday night, we have decided to look at some of the bargains that clubs have managed to pick up over the past few months.

Of course, it is too early to make any definitive judgements about signings this early on in the season, but there were certainly a few standout names that were deserving of a mention on this list.

Quite a few experienced players have moved to Premier League teams for relatively modest prices, or for no fees at all, so there were certainly some decent candidates for our top five.

Press the next page as we countdown the five biggest bargains of the 2020 summer transfer window.

5) Ferran Torres

Manchester City only paid £20.8m for the Spanish international who had a release clause almost four times that amount. With the player running down his contract, the Citizens were able to take advantage of the situation and get him for a bargain price.

Whether Torres will turn out to be a success at the Etihad Stadium, we shall have to wait and see but, with the winger still only 20 years of age, he certainly has the potential to become a top player.

4) Thiago Silva

The Brazilian may have made a mistake on his Premier League debut against West Brom but the Brazilian’s experience could prove invaluable for a Chelsea team who lack solidity at the back.

Silva maybe 36 years of age but, on a free transfer, it seems like a good deal for a player who has won 26 major trophies during a career that has spanned almost twenty years.

3) Thiago Alcantara

Pep Guardiola knows a thing or two about the Spaniard after signing him for Bayern Munich and he has developed into a world-class player since he left Barcelona seven years ago.

Liverpool have paid just £20m (and only £5m upfront) for Thiago, which, for a player of his quality, is an absolute steal.

2) Willian

Having spent eight years at Chelsea, and having won two Premier League titles, the Brazilian left the Blues this summer after the London club refused to give him a three-year contract.

Rivals Arsenal were more than happy to snap up the Brazilian on a free transfer, who provided two assists on his debut against Fulham last month.

1) James Rodriguez

After initial reports that Everton had paid £20m to sign the Colombian international from Real Madrid, it now appears as though the Toffees actually signed the World Cup Golden Boot winner for free.

James has already made a huge impact since arriving at Goodison Park, scoring three goals and providing three assists in five appearances.
