Top 10 European Clubs Who Have Spent The Most Money In The Transfer Market This Summer

Clubs are now gearing up for the start of the new season and, while not every team has got all their signings in place, there has already been a lot of activity on the transfer market.

It’s not surprising but Premier League sides do make up the balk of the top ten biggest spenders. Revenue from TV means that they have the greatest room for manoeuvre when it comes to bringing in new additions.

There is one English club, though, that is much higher on this list than many people will be expecting but we’ll explain why if you read on.

Press the next page as we count down the European teams who have spent the most money on transfers so far this summer (based on stats from TMW).

10) Real Madrid – €80m

The Spanish club were hoping to bring in Kylian Mbappe as a marquee signing. However, after the Frenchman opted to remain at PSG, they have made just two additions; Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco and Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea.

9) Liverpool – €85.8m

As well as bringing in a couple of youngsters (Calvin Ramsey and Fabio Carvalho), Jurgen Klopp’s side also decided to spend big on Benfica’s Darwin Nunez. It remains to be seen whether the gamble will pay off.

8) Borussia Dortmund – €86m

The departure of Erling Haaland has forced the Bundesliga side into the market, and they have secured deals for no less than four players, including Red Bull Salzburg’s Karim Adeyemi.

7) Chelsea – €94.2m

After a slow start to the summer, the Blues are gradually building up some momentum after signing Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly. They are also thought to be closing in on a move for Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.

6) Arsenal – €97.06m

The Gunners are expected to move further up this list, when Oleksandr Zinchenko’s signature is confirmed. However, at the time of writing, they have recruited four players, including City striker Gabriel Jesus.

5) Tottenham – €101.9m

Spurs have made some bold decisions in the transfer market, with the highest profile addition being the £60m they spent on securing the signature of Richarlison from Everton.

4) Barcelona – €103m

It’s anyone’s guess where Barca are finding the money to bring in new players, despite clearly having financial problems, but they have confirmed deals for Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski.

3) Leeds – €105.64m

The surprise name in this top ten but Jesse Marsch’s side have already put the money from the sales of Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips to good use. Their biggest signing is Brenden Aaronson who was brought in from Marsch’s former club Red Bull Salzburg.

2) Manchester City – €108.75m

The Premier League champions have now made three big additions this summer. Along with Erling Haaland, they have also recruited Kalvin Phillips and Julian Alvarez.
